Body and neck

Gibson rarely go wrong with tonewood. They’ve opted for the classic pairing of Mahogany back and sides and a Sitka Spruce top on this Avant Garde model. You’ll get rich warmth from the Mahogany with the Spruce adding the crisp highs.

The Nashville-based company have redesigned the neck for the Hummingbird. A new Advanced Response shape makes this guitar quicker to play than ever before. The slimmer 60’s style taper on the Mahogany neck makes for a pleasing experience when fretting the Rosewood fingerboard.

Traditional hand-scalloped x-bracing and a dovetail neck joint are permanent, reliable features used by Gibson for over half a century. No need to deviate when a guitar has as much longevity as the Hummingbird does.

Preamp

More players nowadays need a preamp on an acoustic. Being able to plug into an amp for effects, versatility or volume is massively beneficial. That’s why Gibson have equipped the Hummingbird with the LR Baggs Element preamp and undersaddle pickup.

Rather than depending on string compression, the Element has been engineered to mirror the soundboard’s movement as you play. No infamous ‘quack’ sound. You get huge dynamic range here.
